The joints found in the hips and shoulders that allows bones to move freely are called Synovial joints
A synovial joint connects two bones and made up of a cartilage lined cavity which is filled with synovial fluid. A synovial joint is also called diarthrosis joints and they are flexible categories of joints that can found between two bones.

Further Explanation

A synovial joint is very common in mammal and it allows joint to move freely in regards to each other.
A synovial joint is made up of different structures and these include
Synovial cavity: the synovial cavity is filled with synovial fluid. This is present in all synovial joints.
Joint capsule: it is the fibrous capsule that is within the diarthrosis. The joint capsule is however made up of two layers, which include:
- The outer fibrous membrane: this membrane is made up of ligaments
- The inner synovial membrane: this membrane is responsible for producing secretes that lubricates that forms the fluid in the cartilage lined cavity.
Articular cartilage: Articular cartilage covers the bones of a synovial joint and also absorbs shock which helps to reduce friction between bones.
Also, there are different categories of a synovial joint and these include:
- Plane joints
- Compound joints:
- Pivot joints
- Hinge joints
- Ball and socket joints
- Saddle joints
- Condyloid joints
Some of the additional structures that can as well be found in synovial joints but present in all include, Bursae, Articular discs, and Tendons
