Also, at the time, land was equal to power. The more land you had, the richer you were. This is a social and political reason, as well as economic.

The signing of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact allowed Germany full reign in Western Poland during September 2nd, 1939 whilst the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the East.

Poland refused to give Hitler access to Danzig because fear of invasion. Danzig is today referred to as Gdansk and is in Poland. The Polish Corridor separated Germany from East Prussia. Hitler assumed that the British and Americans would not intervene
I believe there were 19 black's awarded the medal of honor, but i'm not sure.
