I was determined that i would not let anyone else's problems interfere with my vacation. It seemed that every time I was ready t

o go on a trip, something came up, and I had to stay at home to take care of some friend or member of my family.
Well, not this time I told myself. I did not care what happened. This was my time to pamper myself. I already had my airline ticket, and Hawaii was ready for me. My Ticket was a fortunate gift from my friend Janet. She had won two tickets to Hawaii. Now she and I had only three days to wait before our flight to the islands.

Janet was leafing through the brochures on Hawaii when she heard the brakes squeal. Then a terrible cry cut through the air. She threw open the door and her heart leaped when she saw her devoted dog lying in the street. She ran to his side and his huge brown eyes begged her for help. By the time the veterinarian had come and Sandy was splinted, bandaged, and lying on an old wool blanket in the corner of the living room, Janet knew that she would not be seeing Hawaii this month. Maybe she never would, but she was sure that she could not leave her loyal friend who depended on upon her to keep him comfortable and to help him get well.

What narrative structure (episodic plot, parallel plot, etc.) does the author use to tell Incidents in the life of a slave girl?
Gnom [1K]

"Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl" by Harriet Jacobs has a classic, conversational and realistic style in which the reader feels as if he were talking to the protagonist. The narration is simple and attractive as in "I was born a slave, but I never new it till six years of happy childhood has passed away". Another key stylistic feature is the directness when addressing the reader as in "Reader, did you ever rate? I hope not".

In The Great Gatsby, does wealth alone decide which class a character belongs to?
Nata [24]

I believe so because Gatsby was a wealthy man who was poor at first and worked his way to become rich and the woman he loved was also rich and had a high class. The poorer people were lower class in the book/movie as well

Hi every body

I need a summary of War by Luigi Pirandello could you help me please?
ozzi

Answer:

Of course :)

Explanation:

Some travelers from Rome are obliged to spend most of the night aboard a second-class railway carriage, parked at the station in Fabriano, waiting for the departure of the local train that will take them the remainder of their trip to the small village of Sulmona. At dawn, they are joined by two additional passengers: a large woman, “almost like a shapeless bundle,” and her tiny, thin husband. The woman is in deep mourning and is so distressed and maladroit that she has to be helped into the carriage by the other passengers.

Her husband, following her, thanks the people for their assistance and then tries to look after his wife’s comfort, but she responds to his ministrations by pulling up the collar of her coat to her eyes, hiding her face. The husband manages a sad smile and comments that it is a nasty world. He explains this remark by saying that his wife is to be pitied because the war has separated her from their twenty-year-old son, “a boy of twenty to whom both had devoted their entire life.” The son, he says, is due to go to the front. The man remarks that this imminent departure has come as a shock because, when they gave permission for their son’s enlistment, they were assured that he would not go for six months. However, they have just been informed that he will depart in three days.

The man’s story does not prompt too much sympathy from the others because the war has similarly touched their lives. One of them tells the man that he and his wife should be grateful that their son is leaving only now. He says that his own son “was sent there the first day of the war. He has already come back twice wounded and been sent back again to the front.” Someone else, joining the conversation, adds that he has two sons and three nephews already at the front. The thin husband retorts that his child is an only son, meaning that, should he die at the front, a father’s grief would be all the more profound. The other man refuses to see that this makes any difference. “You may spoil your son with excessive attentions, but you cannot love...
