After the Louisiana Purchase Treaty was created, Jefferson initiated the expedition of the newly bought land and the area beyond the "big stone mountains" in the region. Jefferson picked Meriwether Lewis to perform this journey across the Louisiana area. Lewis was the army officer who got served Jefferson as his assistant. Lewis took William Clark as his collider. Clark took represented one of Lewis's army commanders. Jefferson had Lewis and Clark detailed published messages for their travel. Their main goals were to investigate and explore the Missouri River and to make the safe food way to the Pacific Ocean.
