You are the international manager of a U.S. business that has just developed a revolutionary new personal computer that can perf

orm the same functions as existing PCs but costs only half as much to manufacture. Several patents protect the unique design of this computer. Your CEO has asked you to formulate a recommendation for how to expand into Western Europe. Your options are (a) to export from the United States, (b) to license a European firm to manufacture and market the computer in Europe, or (c) to set up a wholly owned subsidiary in Europe. Evaluate the pros and cons of each alternative and suggest a course of action to your CEO.

C) Because it saves on shipping costs, and if the European firm got mad we'd be screwed. Wholly owning the subsidiary allows complete control and if it fails we simply pull out. Our patents are protected and free from the potential of sabotage.

Which statement best explains the role context plays in
Diano4ka-milaya [45]

Answer:

B). Understanding that Quindlen is the descendant of immigrants helps the reader realize that she supports the idea that some cultures are naturally better than others.

Explanation:

Context plays a vital role in assisting the readers to understand the author's intended idea more clearly and comprehensively. It equips the readers with the necessary historical, political, social, or cultural information regarding the time when the text was written that the readers require to make meaning of the text.

As per the question, the second statement most appropriately elaborates that 'knowing that Quindlen is the descendant of immigrants assists the readers to understand that the author backs the idea of some culture being naturally better than others.' It aids the readers to not only understand the author's perspective and meaning of the excerpt comprehensively but also in analyzing the text. Thus, option B is the correct answer.
