Why did cowboys drive their cattle north from Texas along the Chisholm trail
svp [43]

Answer: The cowboys did this to get their cattle to market in larger cities such as Chicago.

Explanation:

The cowboys used the Chisholm Trail to get their cattle to market. They took their cattle to Abilene, Kansas. In Abilene, there was the Kansas Pacific Railway. The cattle were then shipped via train to larger cities such as Chicago and other Eastern cities.

The cattle were not worth a lot in Texas, since there were so many the price was a staggering 4$ per head compared to over 40$ in the East and North. This drove the cowboys to take the Chisholm Trail to the largest stockyard in Kansas.

Compare and contrast spanish and french absolute monarchies
GuDViN [60]

France was a typical absolute monarchy for centuries, while this type of government in Spain didn't had strong roots and didn't last for such a long time.

Explanation:

  • The absolutist monarchy was established under Henry IV (1589-1610) and consolidated during the reign of Louis XIII (1610-1643).
  • The absolutist monarchy in France peaked during Louis XIV (1643-1715). Louis XIV erected a magnificent court at Versailles, where he moved from the Louvre where the earlier kings lived.
  • Known as the Sun King, he paid close attention to science and research, and a model of mercantilism was developed during his time.
  • Mercantilism was based on the idea of as much export of goods as possible and less import.
