It didn't even have stray dogs that would just roam about. It seemed "vacant and silent as if it were already in the full heat of summer." You can see some of the teachers houses such as Mr. Morgans and Mrs. English. The other homes on the street had columned front porches and back patios. Their houses and oak trees stood curiously still in the warm golden light of the midmorning sun. That's why the neighborhood around the school seem as if they were suburbs or really nice and quiet people lived there.
