<span>Some protestant leaders considered the use of religious images as a form of idolatry and pushed for its removal and instead concentrated on Protestant ideals.  Catholic art on the other hand, were used a form of visual education for believers.  Their art was meant to venerate God and the saints which is why they gave deep emphasis on their artwork.</span>
