Answer:

During  the Reformation, church reformers wanted church leaders to stop the practice of paying for indulgences. They also wanted the Bishops to stop wearing the large, conical, ugly hats. The split in Christianity came about mostly because of the hats. The Roman Catholic Church attempted to reform itself in the Counter Reformation, but they did not stop wearing the big hats. The Pope had the biggest, ugliest hat of all. In addition, Protestant ministers don't wear the dresses or frocks that the Catholics priests do. The Reformation led countries such as England and Germany into war.  The wars were fought over a dress code, especially the hats and frocks. And in some cases indulgences.
