Wiglaf helped Beowulf kill the dragon. When the dragon burns the geats’ homes and lands, Beowulf decides to fight and kill the monster personally. He and the Thanes climb to the dragons lair where, upon seeing the beast, the thanes flee from fear, leaving on Wiglaf to battle at beawulf’s side
