The " Europe first strategy" was used by the allied axis to<span> stop Hitler first; Europe was considered a long-term threat; None of the Allies felt Japan or Italy posed a serious long-term threat. Because only Germany had the resources to bomb Britain, fight U.S. and British navies on the Atlantic, and invade the Soviet Union across a 1,200 mile front. Therefore, despite their ultimate goal being to fight and win a two front war, the Allies agreed to pursue a "Europe first" strategy. Until Hitler was defeated, the Pacific would be a secondary theater of war. </span>
