The passage of the 19th amendment in 1920 signaled a new era for women. Now, women could be fully involved in the political process. This amendment gave them the power to vote in officials who supported their views/beliefs on the local, state, and national level. This also marked just the beginning of women fighting for equal political, social, and legal treatment in the eyes of American society. The fight for suffrage and the sacrifices made would spark later generations of women to fight for rights such as equal pay and a law that got rid of discrimination in the workplace.
