Both groups strongly opposed slavery. They were not as successful as South Carolinians who used slave labor.
The Highland Scots are unique in the way they moved in large, organized groups directly from their homeland to the North Carolina colony. The Highlands is a beautiful but rugged land of mountainous, rocky terrain and harsh winters. In the 1700s it was a poor region where the staple foods were oatmeal and beef.
The Scottish clans were originally extended networks of families who had loyalties to a particular chief, but the word 'clan' is derived from the Gaelic 'clann', meaning literally children. In Scotland, a clan is still a legally recognized group with an official clan chief.
Comity clause is also referred to as a privilege and immunities clause. The clause prevents a state in a way which is discriminatory manner. It also has a provision in articles of confederation. The clause gives citizens to right to travel when in other states, right to free speech, right to assemble, right to bear and keep.
I believe that the Atlantic slave trade contributed to conditions that eventually led to the Haitian revolution by resulting in African slaves making up the vast majority of Ste Domingue's population thus giving them strength in numbers to overthrow a slave system and form their own sovereign government (but what is Ste Domingue?).
