The answer is B. There are certain keywords that can show you what the sign will be.

<span>"A pet store has 12 cats. If 3 of them are sold, how many cats have not been sold?" That is basically asking you to subtracted. Can you see how? "How many cats have NOT been sold." That's the key right there. so it's obviously not that one.

"</span><span>A key chain can hold 3 keys. If there are a total of 12 keys, how many key chains are there?" That is asking you to divide 12 keys into key chains that can hold 3 keys. Did you take </span>the hint?

Answer C is obvious because the phrase "In all" is addition.

And the answer isn't D either. Does this make sense?

konstantin123 [22]
8.75-4.85= 3.90= cost of 6 bananas
3.9/6=0.65= cost of one banana
.65*4=2.60= cost of 4 bananas
4.85-2.60= 2.25= cost of 3 apples
2.25/3=.75= cost of an apple

A total of 259 tickets were sold to a benefit concert for a total of $5,312. Two types of tickets were sold: adult tickets were
jeyben [28]

Answer:

113

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the number of adult tickets sold =a

Let the number of student tickets sold =s

A total of 259 tickets were sold, therefore:

a+s=259

Adult tickets were sold for $24 each and student tickets were sold for $16 each.

Total Revenue = $5,312

Therefore:

24a+16s=5,312

We solve the two derived equations simultaneously.

From the first equation

a=259-s

Substitute a=259-s into 24a+16s=5,312

24(259-s)+16s=5,312

6216-24s+16s=5,312

-8s=5,312-6216

-8s=-904

Divide both sides by -8

s=113

Therefore, 113 student tickets were sold.
