The military draft held between 1965-1973 was for the Vietnam war and if drafted meant the man must enter the military immediately and serve in war.
Registering for the draft is required of all men upon turning 18 years of age. When the draft is enacted, it means the government is in need of soldiers and all those registered for the draft could be called to serve. In the case of Vietnam, draft calls were made by listing social security numbers on the television during the news. Those listed were expected to report to a military center and prepare to serve in the war.
If a man was drafted between 1965 and 1973, it meant that "C. he had to serve in the military." the draft was highly controversial and eventually abandoned many years later.
