The advantages are the music everyone can listen to because since there are no lyrics people can't be offended or dislike the lyrics.

Another advantage is the music can be interpreted in different ways and mean different things to different people so it's open for a wider speculation

It's great study music

The disadvantages are since it doesn't have lyrics if you want to send a particular message out, it's harder to get the idea across

A lot of people automatically assume that without lyrics it's boring and sounds bad so it scares people away

Since it only has instruments it has to do a very good job with the instrumentals, because unlike the songs with lyrics, lyrics can't add to it being a good song.
