Officially the Servicemen’s Readjustment Act of 1944, the G.I. Bill was created to help veterans of World War II. It established hospitals, made low-interest mortgages available and granted stipends covering tuition and expenses for veterans attending college or trade schools. From 1944 to 1949, nearly 9 million veterans received close to $4 billion from the bill’s unemployment compensation program. The education and training provisions existed until 1956, while the Veterans’ Administration offered insured loans until 1962. The Readjustment Benefits Act of 1966 extended these benefits to all veterans of the armed forces, including those who had served during peacetime.

What according to Rosa Luxemburg were the consequences of European Social Democrat’s failure to block their nations’ government
Murljashka [212]

Answer:

Rosa Luxemburg wrote in The Junius Pamphlet (1915) that the Social Democrats across Europe failed to block their nation's governments because they were docile and showed weakness, there was a waning of their fighting spirit.

Explanation:

Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919), a prominent Marxist intellectual in Germany said that the Social Democrats failed to stop the governments of Europe from going to war, especially because the Marxist leaders had lost their fighting spirit (Luxemburg, Julius Pamphlet, 1915). The consequence is that the bourgeois state and the dominant classes were able to maintain their control of the state and institutions at the expense of the people of Europe who had to endure the war. Luxemburg said the European Left should see the war as a test of strength and that the Social Democrats need to learn how to be protagonists instead of a  "will-less football," (Chapter 1, The Julius Pamphlet). Luxemburg believed the party needed to take control of their own fate and history if their view of society was to prevail. It is known through other speeches and writing that Luxemburg believed the Social Democrats had become overly bureaucratized and the trade unions in Germany resisted the idea of revolution.

What are the differences between mlk and malcolm x
stiks02 [169]

Answer:

Martin Luther King and Malcolm X were arguably the two most important leaders during the American Civil Rights Movement. Although both were dedicated to ending racial discrimination towards African Americans and achieving racial freedom, the two appeared to differ significantly in their ideology and tactics.

Aims: Martin Luther King was an integrationist, whose main aim was to bring about racial equality through both races mixing and working together. However, Malcolm X was a black nationalist with a firm belief in black supremacy. Although he also wanted civil rights, he championed black superiority over whites and wanted the races to be distinctly separated, as he remained suspicious of white people and believed that African Americans should only seek to help one another.

Tactics:  The issue of how to achieve their goals also differed. To achieve racial equality, Martin Luther King believed non-violent resistance was the key to ending all violence and racial hatred, in order to eventually achieve equality between races. These non-violent tactics were evident during peaceful protests such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott 1955. Malcolm X on the other hand, believed that non-violent methods were too slow to achieve progress and signified weakness. He strongly believed in black pride and that African Americans should achieve their goals “by any means necessary”, advocating black militancy both as a form of self-defence and defiance against white aggression.

Explain the Evolutionary Theory, and how it is depicted in Apocalypto.
Andrej [43]

Answer:

First, it is important to establish what the Theory of Evolution is, and then, we will talk about the movie Apocalypto, to finally see how these two come together.

The Theory of Evolution was first proposed scientifically by Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace in the middle of the 19th century. From its beginning, this theory has shaped how we see the evolution of the species and why certain characteristics and traits, contained in genetic material, will not be passed on to other generations. Essentially, then, the Theory of Evolution is precisely that, it is a scientific explanation as to how species have evolved through time, what has caused them to evolve, and what has shaped them to be as they are in the present. This Theory explained such ideas as natural selection, the inheritance of genetic traits through the passage of time, the effects of the environment of inheritance, biodiversity, and why certain species have changed so much, diversified so much, even if they have common ancestry.

Apocalypto, now, is the movie that was produced by Mel Gibson and which was launched in 2016. This movie depicts the initiation of the fall of the great Mayan empire, driven to its end by nature: the draught, political and social corruption and finally, disease and chaos brought on by the contact between Indian tribes, including the Mayas, and the Spanish.

Although not directly related with one another, in a manner that we can say that Apocalypto portrays the Theory of Evolution, it does hint at what the theory implies. The Mayans were a pretty evolved civilization, but their structures depended on the lands where they lived, and its resources, and when drought came, they were not capable of adapting so that in the end, this event led to the end of the Empire. Apocalypto depicts the effects of that drought and it shows the end of the civilization, even if it cannot be said that evolutionarily speaking, the Mayans became extinct. The movie also depicts the effects of disease; Mayans had never been exposed to such European diseases as measles, and therefore, when they did come in contact, the disease decimated the population. To the extent that when the Spanish arrived, they were able to race the Empire to the ground with small numbers. Apocalypto also depicts this detail when Jaguar Paw and the captives see the trail of people who are dying sick. It also depicts the coming in contact of the two worlds.

So even if we cannot directly say that the two are connected, we can establish that some of the principles that determine evolution, and natural selection, are present inherently in the movie Apocalypto.
