How are you doing? As of your question, "What is the main cause of the differences in the physical characteristics of the Middle East and South America?"

Well, some differences that you would see is that, first of all, the Middle East is desert. The climate is dry, almost no rain, sandstorms, and heat. In the night, its cold, more water supply, however it still is dry. Their is mountains there, and almost no animals. 

South America, you may know as the Amazon Forest. The Amazon Forest is everything but the Middle East. The climate is always wet, and its always raining. Lots of Vegetation, and animal variety.
