You decide to write an essay about the medical benefits of dark chocolate, and you find an interesting website. To determine if

it's reliable, you ask yourself the three questions presented in this lesson: 1) Who wrote it? A dietitian, Chuck Brown, wrote the article on this website. 2) What type of site is it? The site name ends in .edu. 3) How current is the information? The article was written one year ago.

One year ago isn’t too old. Since the person mentioned is a dietitian, the information should be expert level and therefore credible. Website that end in .edu can be reliable, but it is still safe to see if the author of the article uses credible evidence.

What do you think? When should students start thinking about their future career paths? Why is there pressure to determine a car
Ghella [55]

Answer:

Students should start thinking about their future in high school.

Explanation:

You are about to become an adult and it's an expensive world with a bad economy. Soon you'll need to support yourself. If you think college is the answer, unless your parents are filthy rich you should have a very clear idea of how college will help you professionally and how likely it is to be worth the expense. In other words, you need a business plan even if you go to college.

If you choose something other than college, it's time to decide how to point your ship. A trade like CNC machining or welding? Open an insurance office? Work at a restaurant in the homes of becoming a general manager?

Spend some time with these thoughts while you're driving, walking, in line, waiting for class, eating by yourself at lunch, etc. Envision yourself taking the path you choose, minute by minute. Ask people in those jobs what their day is like, what regrets they have, what they did right.

Doing these things will help you not waste your time or your parents' resources and are more likely to yield the results you want than just "letting things happen".

"Everybody knows him. Dickon's wanderin' about everywhere. Th' very blackberries an' heatherbells knows him. I warrant th' foxes
pashok25 [27]
The correct answer here would be the first option.

The foxes definitively are not leading Dixon anywhere, it is just a figure of speech, a figurative language that is used here. Figurative speech uses something like a metaphor to explain or show something by using something that resembles the thing being shown or explained. Here the it is shown that he is so well known that even a thing that even the foxes know him and trust him.

The principal's speech about student council elections was _______ than her speech last year.
SpyIntel [72]
"Briefer" and "more brief" are both correct. When comparing two items, use -er. In this case, the two items being compared are the speech this year with the speech last year. However, "briefer" and "more brief" have virtually the same meaning and can be used interchangeably.

WHAT main point are the authors trying to make by including the interviews of Susan Hamlin and Susan Hamilton? WHAT is the MAIN
jeyben [28]

The main point that the authors are trying to make by including the interviews of Susan Hamlin and Susan Hamilton is that one person can give different responses depending on how the interviewer did their job.

Who are Susan Hamlin and Susan Hamilton?

It is to be noted that Susan Hamlin and Susan Hamilton are the same person. She was interviewed twice by different interviewers.

What was the main purpose of these two interviews?

The variations between Susan Hamlin and Susan Hamilton's interviews must be attributed to the interviewer if they were both Susan Hamlin, as their similar biographical information shows.

Jessie A. Butler was white, as were the vast majority of interviewers working for the Federal Writers' Project.

The Black woman thought she had come from the welfare office when she spoke with Hamlin.

Butler made no attempt to refute this supposition and concealed her genuine objective, which was to document Hamlin's experience as a slave.

Hence, the purpose of the interview is to buttress that if the interviewer is not careful, certain assumptions may discolor the result of their interview.

Select the correct text in the passage.
Marina86 [1]

Answer:

Central idea of his argument is the excerpt is;

B.) cell phones are academically beneficial

Explanation:

This is the opinion or claim which Eric is trying to persuade his audience to agree with. After declaring his claim, Eric presents thee arguments in its support. Hence this option (cell phones are academically beneficial) presents the central idea of this persuasive excerpt.

Option A is incorrect because here Eric is presenting a claim by some people which he would try to refute in next few lines.

Option C and D are incorrect because they are not ideas or claims but arguments in support of the central idea/claim.
