Why was the movement of goods and troops an intricate part of the spread of Islam from the beginning?

The widespread adoption of Islam beyond the Arabian Peninsula is recorded in some ancient histories that date back to the middle of the seventh century.

The movement of troops is associated with Islam, since the word itself means submission by the authority of another. We can say that there was no dissemination of the Islamic faith proper, in fact, it was the great success of the first Muslim clans to get the submission of the other Arab groups which allowed the spread of religion beyond the Arabian Peninsula.

By the middle of the eighth century the Muslims controlled the western half of the Silk Road, and commerce became the second major factor in the spread of Islam. For a merchant, the benefits of converting to Islam were very clear, especially considering the extent of contacts and cooperation between Muslim merchants both on and off its territory, and the fact that Muslim officials and Islamic laws favored to Muslims over non-Muslims.
