Explanation: Colonel George Custer attacked a group camped by the Little Bighorn River, this group ended up being the main Sioux force. This resulted in the Battle of Little Bighorn. Custer and 262 of his men were killed this was a disaster for the U.S army.  After the battle many tribes went back to their reservations, others fled to Canada. The U.S army came in and crushed the resisting group. Later in 1881 ones that fled surrendered and returned to the reservation.
