The Gulf of Tonkin was a resolution passed by the US Congress during the Vietnamese War. Under this resolution, the Congress gave authority to the President Lyndon Johnson to take necessary action to maintain peace internationally.

This resolution allowed the US to take military action in Vietnam and keep hold of the Southeastern country.
