The Fifth Amendment of the Constitution concerns the right to trial and includes the phrase "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury". This Amendment, which is part of the Bill of Rights, ensures that Americans can not be held accountable for a crime without a fair and speedy trial involving a grand jury.

protection of the laws and was porposed in the response to issues related to
fromer slaves following the Americal Civil War. Then lastly, the 15th
amendments that prohibits denying the right to vote to someone because of their
race. These 3 amendments apparently change the United States change socially. </span>
