The Jonesboro Education Department decided to celebrate opening a new school by baking one of the biggest chocolate chip cookies

ever made. They hired a local bakery to make a cookie with a diameter of 32 feet. What is the area of the surface of a cookie with a diameter of 32 ft? (Use 3.14 as an approximation for pi.)

74.6786 m² is the answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Step 1</u> :

we know that the diameter (D) of the cookie = 32 ft

Converting dimensions from feet (ft) to meter (m)

1 ft =  0.3048 m

32 ft = 32 × 0.3048

        =  9.7536 m

<u>Step 2</u> :

To find the surface area of the cookie we have the formula,

<u> Area (A) =  π . r²</u>

Diameter (D) = 32 ft

∴ d = 2r

  d/2 = r (radius)

  32 ÷ 2 = r

<u>  r = 16</u>      16 feet = 4.8768 m

π . r²  = 3.14 × (4.8768)² = 3.14 × 23.783

                                          =  74.6786 m²

How to find equation of line passing through the points (x,y)
DochEvi [55]

First you must acknowledge that you are dealing with a line therefore you must write linear equation or linear function in this case.

Linear function has a form of,

y=mx+n

Then calculate the slope <em>m</em> using the coordinates of two points. Let say <em>A(x1, y1)</em> and <em>B(x2, y2)</em>,

m=\dfrac{\Delta{y}}{\Delta{x}}=\dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

Now pick a point either <em>A</em> or <em>B</em> and insert coordinates of either one of them in the linear equation also insert the slope you just calculated, I will pick point <em>A</em>.

y_1=mx_1+n

From here you solve the equation for n,

y_1=mx_1+n\Longrightarrow n=y_1-mx_1

So you have slope <em>m</em> and variable <em>n</em> therefore you can write down the equation of the line,

f(x)=m_{slope}x+n_{variable}

Hope this helps.

Identify the standard form of a circle equation x^2+2x+y^2-2y=2
Bas_tet [7]

Answer:

The standard from of the expression is: (x +1)^2 + (y-1)^2  = (2)^2

Step-by-step explanation:

Here the given expression is :

x^2+2x+y^2-2y=2

Now, the standard form of a circle is given as :

(x-h)^2 + (y -k)^2  = r^2

Here, (h,k)  = Coordinates of Center,   r = Radius

Also, use the algebraic identity:

(a \pm b)^2 = a^2 + b^2 \pm 2ab\\

Now, converting the given expression in the standard form, we get:

x^2+2x+y^2-2y=2

Add 2 on both sides of the equation, we get:

x^2+2x+y^2-2y  +2=2  + 2\\\implies x^2+2x + 1 +  y^2-2y + 1  = 4\\\implies  (x^2+2x + 1 )+  (y^2-2y + 1)  = 4\\\implies (x +1)^2 + (y-1)^2  = (2)^2

So, here the standard from of the expression is:

(x +1)^2 + (y-1)^2  = (2)^2

Center coordinates here are  (h,k)  = ( -1 ,1) and Radius  = 2 units
