The chapter begins with an elaborate description of Gatsby's parties and their aftermath. Describe what happens both before and
frez [133]
Everyone shows up to the party, even people who were not invited. Most of the people don't even know who Gatsby is and how he looks like.

After the parties, people leave recklessly. There is a scene of a guy, called Owl Eyes, who crashes his car just a few seconds after he starts driving away. Furthermore, because he's drunk, he continues to drive it even after one of the wheels has come off.

Which of the following sentences is written correctly?
chubhunter [2.5K]

B. Eager to eat, Caleb immediately joined the buffet line.

The other ones don't make sense because the order that the words are put confuses who is doing the action.

For example in the sentence:

Caleb was ready for the party wearing a suit and tie.

The way this sentence was written makes it seem like the party was wearing a suit and tie even though it was Caleb.

This is how it should have been:

Caleb, wearing a suit and tie, was ready for the party

Another example:

Having fun, the dance floor was already full of people.

Who/what was having fun? The dance floor or the people? In this sentence it seems like the dance floor is having fun.

This is how it should have been:

The dace floor was already full of people having fun.

Last example:

He rode in a car that was decorated with his friends

So his car was decorated with little models of his friends. I'm sure he didn't mean this so...

With his friends, he rode in a decorated car.

Hope this made sense and helped you understand!

insens350 [35]
So you have to have courage to speak in front of an audience and tell people what you believe in but you also have to have courage to sit and listen to other peoples opinions about what they believe in even if you don't believe what they believe

If you came across challenging words in your reading, what could you do to practice fluency?
erma4kov [3.2K]
It wouldn't matter really, but A is good. If you don't have a dictionary at hand, then do your best to pronounce it.
