Until few decades ago focusing around children, home, and careers was predominantly in the early adulthood stage. But since then things have changed, the modern way of life, as well as the equalization of women with men in every sector, contributed to people to delay these three things for later on in life. So nowadays the period is pushed further upwards on the age scale, and the children, home, and careers are things that come in the main focus in the middle adulthood.
