I’m not sure if you have choices, but some words you could use to describe her life are “simple”, “plain”, or “humble”. Her life was fairly comfortable since she was born in the middle class, but to her, she believed it was horrible and dreadful that she wasn’t part of the upper class. She was never satisfied with what her husband worked hard for and was a spoiled person in general.

How is Miss Emily ""a fallen monument"" (part 1 paragraph 1)? To what is she a monument? Why is she repeatedly called an ""idol"
Harrizon [31]

Answer:

She is "a fallen monument" due to the fact that she fought for the equality of blacks and women. Because she was the last person that fought for the cause. Thus, she is regarded as "a fallen monument" to those that are scared and anxious to face the government. She is known as a idol due to the fact that she is the only one remaining on the cause for black women equality. One of the themes of the story is to be different and strong enough to stand for something and she tried to do that. She wanted to be the last person that fought for the cause.

In Oedipus Rex, the catastrophe* happens off-stage. It is narrated by a SERVANT. Explain how Sophocles' choice to have Oedipus'
Dahasolnce [82]

Answer and Explanation:

Sofocles decided that the catastrophe involving Oedipus and Jocasta should take place offstage and that these facts be presented by a servant. This decision was made to allow the narrative to increase dramatically, without being appealing and stimulating the public's imagination.

This is because when the servant is placed as the bearer of the catastrophe information, the public can use his words and create his own image of what happened and may even doubt that the facts narrated are real. Sofocle, then, gave the public autonomy over the tragic end of the story.
