Women in the Middle Ages, in addition to playing the traditional role played by the society of wives, mothers and daughters, also engaged in various other social roles. Many women had a profession and even conducted some form of business without the supervision of their husbands on their own. For example, 13th-century Paris documentary records feature women teachers, doctors, apothecaries, dyers, copyists, miniaturists, bookbinders, architects, but also some important leadership roles such as abbesses and queens.

However, as noble women, in addition to their role as mothers and wives, they helped supervise the vassals and administer the families. In this way they contributed to medieval warrior society.
