For example Jim says that sometimes he will get hit and sick but then he will get well and stand up again meaning he will not give up. Moreover, I also believe Jim is teaching Huck how the world of society works by mentioning that one day he will marry a poor girl and let go of the rich girl because that is how society works: wealthy people with wealthy people and poor people with poor people.
