From August 11 to 16, 1965, violence over race issues stained the city of Los Angeles, California.  The Watts riots in the neighborhood of Watts in L.A., African American Marquette Frye was pulled over by the police. What started as a usual police procedure for improper driving ended up in a fight and the follow-up protest by black people that had to be controlled by the National Guard of California.
