“Pax Romana” was a period in Roman history where Rome recorded a long period of peace and economic prosperity. During that time period the Roman government differed from that of the Roman Republic due to the lack of democracy. Unlike the Roman Republic, the Roman Empire practiced a dictatorial rule.
The main reason for the success of the Roman Empire was that a single strong ruler led the government. In the late Roman Republic, the government was run by three men who often opposed one another.
