There was a time when I was a victim of ineffective listening. I was sharing to someone about a family problem of mine and then this person seemed to only listen half-heartedly. The barrier present was that he was not ready to listen to my problems and then the result is that he gave me poor advice. That was really annoying.

Listening is an important aspect of communication, hearing involves the sense of hearing of the ear. Active and effective listening is by combining the sense of hearing with the mind, so that it can capture and interpret the message conveyed.

  • Listen Evaluatively

Evaluative listening is listening while evaluating the words spoken by the speaker. Then the results of the evaluation are conveyed back to the speaker in various forms such as rejection, approval, and others.

  • Projective Listening

It is projecting the listener to the speaker's mind is a way to listen projectively. Listeners try to understand the speaker's views and understand every meaning of the word until the conversation is over.

Ways that can be done to become an active and effective listener include the following.

  • Hear concentration
  • Catch the important messages or the point of the conversation
  • Note things that are felt important

By doing the three ways above listening skills will be effective. So that an important point when someone hears will not be missed. Because there are some types of conversation that can not be repeated again.

That is the importance of listening skills in proper communication techniques. Communication techniques can support the success to be achieved.
