The Communist Party showed no mercy, and they sent soldiers and tanks into the crowd with an order to beat up, kill, and run over the people that demonstrated. So it was, the military shut down the demonstrations and lot of people ended up dead or badly injured, while the Communist Party managed to further strengthen its position in the Chinese society.
