Probability sampling is used as a sampling method in which the researcher chooses samples from a large population using a method which is based on the theory of probability. For an item to be qualify as a probability sample, that item must be selected using a random selection. An example is the selection of 2 girls from a group of 20 students where 12 are girls and 8 are boys.
