The Battle of Stalingrad put an end to the advance of the German forces to the East, and was the first major setback that the German Army suffered in the second world war, the amount of soldiers needed to make that advance into the Russian territory and to fight under those conditions, as well as the supplies needed to keep them fed, desimated largely the German Forces that were also being attacked by the allies on the western front, this weakened the German forces creating the turning point in the world war II scenario.
