Which economic sector did not grow and prosper<br> during this decade?
anyanavicka [17]

Answer:The interwar period in the United States, and in the rest of the world, is a most interesting era. The decade of the 1930s marks the most severe depression in our history and ushered in sweeping changes in the role of government. Economists and historians have rightly given much attention to that decade. However, with all of this concern about the growing and developing role of government in economic activity in the 1930s, the decade of the 1920s often tends to get overlooked. This is unfortunate because the 1920s are a period of vigorous, vital economic growth. It marks the first truly modern decade and dramatic economic developments are found in those years. There is a rapid adoption of the automobile to the detriment of passenger rail travel. Though suburbs had been growing since the late nineteenth century their growth had been tied to rail or trolley access and this was limited to the largest cities. The flexibility of car access changed this and the growth of suburbs began to accelerate. The demands of trucks and cars led to a rapid growth in the construction of all-weather surfaced roads to facilitate their movement. The rapidly expanding electric utility networks led to new consumer appliances and new types of lighting and heating for homes and businesses. The introduction of the radio, radio stations, and commercial radio networks began to break up rural isolation, as did the expansion of local and long-distance telephone communications. Recreational activities such as traveling, going to movies, and professional sports became major businesses. The period saw major innovations in business organization and manufacturing technology. The Federal Reserve System first tested its powers and the United States moved to a dominant position in international trade and global business. These things make the 1920s a period of considerable importance independent of what happened in the 1930s.

Alina [70]

Unfortunately, you did not include any excerpt, text, reference or context, to know what kind of speech you are talking about. However, trying to help you, we are going to assume you are talking about the Declaration of Neutrality speech of 1914.

If this is the case, then the correct answer is "to make sure America remains neutral and united."

In his conclusion, Wilson declares that Americans "must put a curb upon our sentiments." Why did Wilson make this statement?

Answer:

"to make sure America remains neutral and united."

Literally, in that speech before Congress, President Woodrow Wilson said: "...The United States must be neutral in fact, as well as in name, during these days that are to try men's souls. We must be impartial in thought, as well as action must put a curb upon our sentiments, as well as upon every transaction that might be construed as a preference of one party to the struggle before another."

The passage is from President Woodrow Wilson's Declaration of Neutrality in 1914. The speech affected US involvement in World War I in that it caused the US to remain isolated and neutral.

Although President Woodrow Wilson wanted to maintain a foreign policy of neutrality, critical events such as the inking of the Lusitania ship and the interception of the Zimerman telegraph where Germany asked the help of México supporting German troops, made Wilson enter the war. The United States entered World War 1 on April 6, 1917, to support Great Britain and France.

The correct answer is A. "Insure domestic Tranquility"

Explanation

On September 11, 2001, a historic event occurred in the United States in which two commercial aircraft were hijacked by religious extremist terrorists and crashed into the World Trade Center buildings better known as the Twin Towers. Hundreds of people were killed and many others were psychologically affected. This fact caused worldwide rejection and allowed many nations led by the United States to begin to strive to guarantee national security and combat terrorism. In this context, security measures were increased in massive places, to prevent a similar event from happening again and that the domestic population of the United States feels safe with the measures taken by the government. Therefore, the correct answer is A. "Insure domestic tranquility"
