The Gettysburg address was important because of world war 1. Lincoln has to honor his fallen men from the war. He started with four score and 7 years ago which is how long ago the United States of America became the United States. But the importance of the Gettysburg address was that Lincoln invoked principles of basic human equality in the Declaration of Independence and connected the sacrifices of the men who fought in the civil war for a new birth of freedom.
