What does Veni, Vedi, Vici mean? What may this reveal about the character who proclaimed this? (Julius Caesar)

English
1 answer:
Alexxandr [17]3 years ago
4 0

This expression means ''I came, I saw, I conquered'' which is believed to have been spoken by the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar in stylish bragging after his victory against Pharnaces II of Pontus at the battle of Zela around 46 BC.

We can infer that Julius Caesar was a person who thought highly of himself and his abilities. It is believed that the Roman Emperor had a lot in common with Hitler when it came to being part of the world's greatest military leaders and considering himself and those similar to him to be above others. He expanded the Roman Republic through a series of battles accross Europe and even declared himself dictator for life.

Think about the short story "The Lottery." The reader can conclude that the lottery was held MAINLY to _____.
Rufina [12.5K]

Answer:

B. preserve an institutionalized tradition that imposed limits on its participants.

Explanation:

The main idea of The Lottery is how societies often preserve traditions even after they have lost any reason for existing and even become damaging to the people. This is the case of the lottery which is held in the town. The lottery has no particular purpose or benefit. It is simply maintained and repeated because of an extreme desire to respect and maintain tradition, and to limit the behaviour and liberty of people.

andre [41]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options provided, we can say the following.

The two elements of informational writing that you will want to use for elaboration are the context or background and the body of the writing.

These are the two elements where you can elaborate, which means that you can develop your arguments and explain them in order for the reader to clearly understand your points. That is what elaboration means, to add more and expand your text with important ideas that support your thesis. When you elaborate, it means that you need to cover all the details of your writing.
