Many countries from multiple continents found the communism very appealing, and with the support of the Soviet Union they managed to fend off the Western countries in their attempt to stop this process. One of the main things in which the people that adopted the communism believed was that the wealth should be owned by the state. Unfortunately for the people though, this didn't turned out as they hoped and believed it will, but instead resulted in few people controlling almost all of the wealth, while all the others lived in poor conditions, often struggling to survive.
