In the book of Joshua, Joshua leads the Israelite to the land promised to their fathers by God. The battle of Jericho is the first conquest in the course of capture of Canaan. According to the stories in the book the wall of Jericho fell when Israelite surround the wall and start blowing the trumpets. However, excavations at that place do not agree with the story.
