Humans raise large numbers of cattle for food. How will these herds of cows affect

Biology

Answer:

A herd of cows releases large amounts of methane, which is extremely damaging to the atmosphere.

Explanation:

It may seem like a joke, but the production of beef - especially the flatulence of cows - has a greater responsibility in the emission of greenhouse gases than the amount of gas emitted by automobiles. The digestion of cattle causes methane (CH4) gas to be released into the atmosphere, this gas is released in large quantities and is extremely harmful to the atmosphere. Like carbon dioxide (CO2), the result of burning fossil fuels, methane accelerates the greenhouse effect process, which causes the temperature on the planet to increase every year.

Cows on average releases between 70 and 120kg of methane per year. Methane is like Carbon Dioxide which makes it harmful to our atmosphere.

Construct an explanation to predict the type of symbiotic relationship that exists between the hippo and oxpecker birds?
Allisa [31]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

<h2><em><u>The hippopotamus and the oxpecker bird are in a mutualistic and parasitic relationship. This is because the oxpecker bird gets food and protection from the hippopotamus. However, the bird gets food by making little cuts in the hippopotamus to obtain insects. This isn't entirely harmful to the hippopotamus though.</u></em></h2>

Describe how a function of fats and oils is similar to a function of carbohydrates
Anna007 [38]
They store energy for the body cells with the difference that carbohydrates give the cells short-term energy while lipids give them long-term energy, meaning it takes more time for that energy to be lost

The ability of one person to produce over a million different antibody molecules does not require over a million different genes
Tema [17]

Answer:

DNA rearrangment.

Explanation:

Genetics can be defined as the scientific study of hereditary in living organisms such as humans, animals and plants.

The human somatic cell is made up of 46 chromosomes which are sub-divided into 22 pairs of autosomes and a pair of sex chromosomes (X and Y). An autosome is one of the numbered chromosome that is typically not a sex chromosome.

On the other hand, sex chromosomes (X and Y) are responsible for determining the gender or sex of living organisms such as humans.

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is an organic complex-molecular structure found in all living organisms. It comprises of genes and is essentially the foundation block of all living organisms such as humans, animals and plants.

DNA rearrangment can be defined as a process which typically involves re-writing the informations contained within a Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) into a Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) by enzyme RNA polymerase.

Hence, the ability of an individual to produce over a million different antibody molecules doesn't require the use of over a million different genes; rather, this wide range of antibody production is due to deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) rearrangment.

There are several different kinds of aquatic ecosystems. Bogs get their water from precipitation, so they don't have many Fill i
Ratling [72]
  1. Bogs get their water from precipitation, so they don't have many <u>nutrients</u>.
  2. Marsh plants are adapted to waterlogged <u>soil</u>
  3. Swamps have <u>plants like trees and shrubs</u>.
  4. Rivers always have flowing currents and pick up <u>sediment</u> as they flow.
  5. Lakes are bodies of water on land.
  6. Wetlands act as filters for nutrients and pollutants dissolved in the water.
  7. Estuaries are wetland regions where freshwater rivers mix with ocean water.

Explanation:

A wetland is a biome which has both water and land that are intermixed in various ways. According to the type of the wetland, the ecosystem differs.

Bogs: Wetland with water from precipitation and no inflow or outflow of surface or ground water.

Soil: Acidic, infertile with less nutrient content

Vegetation: Acid-loving plants

Swamps: Forest wetlands near rivers and lakes.

Soil: well draining, mineral soil

Vegetation: Trees and bushes. Swamps are classified according to the vegetation, like coniferous swamp, hardwood swamp, shrub swamp etc

Marsh: Wetlands mostly inundated with water leading to waterlogged soil

Soil: Organic and mineral soil

Vegetation: Hydrophytic plants adapted to waterlogged soil

Estuaries: Wetland regions enclosed by land one side where fresh water mixes with saline ocean water.

Soil: Saline alkaline soil

Vegetation: Mangrove trees

Rivers and lakes are water bodies that form a part of wetlands.

Rivers are flowing water bodies which flows through water current and picks up sediments as it flows.

Lakes are stationary water bodies that are enclosed by land mass on all its sides.

The wetlands act as a natural filter and receive all the sediments, pollutants etc which are dissolved in water and carried by the rivers and other water sources.
