Passage 4 is an example of a functional text.

A functional text is generally designed to let the reader fulfill a particular need or solve a given problem. This type of text does not necessarily follow one set format, but you can easily recognize one by the way the reader interacts with the text. Unlike reading a novel or an academic article, where the purpose of the reader may be reading for pleasure or to understand a given topic, reading a functional text will give the reader the possibility to solve a given issue.

When you read an article, why should you always analyze the source of the information?
Vanyuwa [196]
It is important because the sources tell you whether the article was credible. When you have an article that has bad source, you are running the risk of having, wrong, opinionated data. This can discredit you paper if you use it.

What about a modern performance of a Shakespearean play could be charged without affecting the play's meaning?
Ket [755]
A lot. The words could be modernized without effectively changing the meaning, the setting could be changed to any time period and the message of the show would come across. Certain characters could be gender-bent, etc.

blsea [12.9K]

Answer:

A Christmas Carol opens on a bleak, cold Christmas Eve in London, seven years after the death of Ebenezer Scrooge's business partner, Jacob Marley. Scrooge, an ageing miser, dislikes Christmas and refuses a dinner invitation from his nephew Fred—the son of Fan, Scrooge's dead sister. He turns away two men who seek a donation from him to provide food and heating for the poor and only grudgingly allows his overworked, underpaid clerk, Bob Cratchit, Christmas Day off with pay to conform to the social custom. That night Scrooge is visited at home by Marley's ghost, who wanders the Earth entwined by heavy chains and money boxes forged during a lifetime of greed and selfishness. Marley tells Scrooge that he has a single chance to avoid the same fate: he will be visited by three spirits and must listen or be cursed to carry much heavier chains of his own.
