A line contains the points (82,−96) and (87,−86)

To find slope of a line we use formula

We are given with two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2)

x1= 82, y1=-96, x2=87, y2=-86

plug in all the values in the formula

slope =\frac{ (y_2-y_1)}{x_2 - x_1}

slope =\frac{ (-86-(-96))}{87-82}

slope =\frac{ (10)}{5}=2

Slope of the line = 2

The slope is (change in y)/(change in x)= (y1-y2)/(x1-x2). It doesn't matter which values y1 and x1 are as long as they come from the same point, so we can have (-96-(-86))/(82-87)=-10/-5=2 as the slope

Why do some quadratic graphs move left or right and others do not? Is there a correlation between this and them moving up and do
Vikentia [17]

Answer:

(x + 3)^2 is left 3 because it becames 0 at -3

(x - 3)^2 is right 3  because it becames 0 at 3

x^2 +3 is up 3  because your just adding 3 units up

x^2 - 3 is down 3 because your just subtracting 3 units down

Coefficient of x^2 in the expansion of (x-3)^3
Mila [183]

Answer:

-9

Step-by-step explanation:

(x-3)(x-3)(x-3)

(x^2-6x+9)(x-3)

x^3-9x^2+27x-27

Therefore, the coefficient of x^2 is -9.

line L passes through point (2, -5) and is perpendicular to the line with equation y=7. determine the equation of line L
Andrew [12]

Answer:

The equation of the line L is x=2

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

The line y=7

Is a horizontal line (parallel line to the x-axis)

The slope of a horizontal line is equal to zero

A line L perpendicular to the given line must be a vertical line (parallel to the y-axis)

The slope of the line L is undefined

The line L passes through the point (2,-5)

therefore

The equation of the line L will be equal to the x-coordinate of the given point

x=2
