In Frankenstein, do you think the frame story format (the story inside the story) is helpful or distracting? Explain your answer.

Victor’s thinking leads him to believe life is nothing more than a collection of body parts plus energy. When he proves himself right by creating Frankenstein, it scared him. But why does the end result of Victor’s creating Frankenstein scare him so much? After all, he’s been trying over and over again, pursuing it (ignoring family and friends in the process) for years?

Now that hes has his creation, Frankenstein is beyond control. He is not human, nor is he dead. He is not learned nor can he be taught. The monster wants love and affection, but is so horrifying to look at everyone is scared.

So the story in the story (to me)

If something is to be, it will be. Such a complex creation should not be left to the human man. Life is so more than just energy and a few body parts. It's a learned life over time. It's being nurtured, loved and guided on how to live and be a productive part of a society.
