Italian  sculptor Giuseppe Moretti's sculpture of the proposed monument to honor those killed in the Battle of Nashville was commissioned by the Ladies Battlefield Association led by , Mrs. James E. Caldwell. This monument, unlike the other monuments installed by both the North and the South with their respective perspectives of their heroes, this monument neither have any war weapons or fighting. This "<em>statue showed a young man standing between two horses</em>" in front of "<em>a tall white  obelisk with an angel at the top</em>".The absence of any depiction of war or weapons makes it a monument of peace an not of war.
