Debates are an important part of the election process because they focus on specific issues.

Further Explanation:-

It was the period of 1960 when there was the first Presidential debate that took place between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy that was televised. Many people think that television debates have long-lasting impacts on the mind of voters and these debates do play an important part during voting and also may affect election results. Many people even argue that it is the presidential debate which decides the next president of the country as the Presidential candidate who puts his point regarding some issue effectively in front of everyone during that debate, Wins the election. Not only the points you keep in front of everyone matters but the presence and the conviction with which one is debating also makes an impact. The Debate between John F. Kennedy and Nixon was a true example of this convectional presence. During the debate, Kennedy appeared to be well-groomed and he was making eye contact with the camera whereas Nixon was sweating and looked unprofessional in his approach and at the time of election results, Nixon lost but by a narrow margin. Debates are an important part of any election campaign as they decide who will win the election.

In the South, laws called the black codes
Tems11 [23]

The Black Codes, sometimes known as the Black Laws, were rules controlling how African Americans should behave (free and freed blacks).

What was Black Codes ?

According to a statement made by James Kent in 1832, "in most of the United States, there is a distinction in respect to political privileges between free colored persons of African blood and free colored persons of white blood; and in fact, in no part of the country do the latter, in point of fact, participate equally with the whites, in the exercise of civil and political rights."

Even though Black Codes predated the Civil War and were present in several Northern states, they were only codified into ordinary law in Southern U.S. states.
