During the period of history from approximately 1760-1840 there was a surge in mechanized production of all goods. This time in history is referred to as the industrial revolution. It is said that the industrial revolution began in Great Britain, but soon spread to other parts of the world, including America. It was a time when there was a dramatic shift in the method of production of nearly all goods from hand made and home made to manufactured.
On April 19, 1775 the British commander in Boston Thomas Gage dispatched an expedition of approximately 700 army regulars under Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith to search the town of Concord for hidden rebel supplies and weapons caches.
