The answer is A. The digestion of carbohydrates such as starch begin in the mouth. The enzyme amylase is contained in saliva. The enzyme hydrolyzes starch to sugars by breaking the glycosidic bonds in the starch molecules. The same enzyme is produced by the pancreas breaking the sugars further down to their final elements which is glucose before absorption.
