Answer:

B) It breaks down polysaccharides such as starch.

Explanation:

Polysaccharides are long chains of monosaccharides like glucose joined together with glycosidic linkages. While plants can simply make glucose via photosynthesis, animals rely on glucose sourced from their diet. In animals, glucose is stored as glycogen; however, plant storage polysaccharides like starch are regularly broken down through digestion using enzymes.

Enzymes are proteins which catalyze chemical reactions like the breakdown of large polysaccharides. Alpha amylase, an enzyme produced in the pancreas, is also found in human saliva; it catalyzes the hydrolysis, or breakdown of starch into glucose. Amylase acts on polysaccharides bonds at random points along the chain by splitting the α 1-4 glycosidic bonds. This produces maltose, dextrin and glucose; this glucose is used in ATP synthesis via respiration, ethyl alcohol fermentation and lactic fermentation.

Answer:

Option B ,

Explanation:

When there is no sufficient glucose available for cellular respiration, the cell in animals starts decomposing molecules also known as polysaccharide that could satisfy their glucose requirement. Some of the common polysaccharide in animals are - Amylose and amylopectin (plant starch found in animals), glycogen, cellulose, lipids and proteins etc. These poly saccharides are complex compounds containing glucose matrix which are broken down with the assistance of an enzyme to release glucose.

Hence, option B is correct

PLEASE HELP! I WILL GIVE BRAINLIEST. What 2 factors affect organisms and their habitats, and give examples of each
Grace [21]

Answer:

There are two categories of these factors: abiotic and biotic. Abiotic factors are the non-living parts of the environment that can often have a major influence on living organisms. Abiotic factors include water, sunlight, oxygen, soil and temperature.

Explanation:

Biotic factors are interactions associated with living organisms. They can also influence the distribution of organisms in an ecosystem. grazing - too little leads to dominant plants outcompeting other species, too much reduces species numbers overall. Both decrease biodiversity.

Abiotic factors affect the ability of organisms to survive and reproduce. Abiotic limiting factors restrict the growth of populations. They help determine the types and numbers of organisms able to exist within an environment.

Which of these processes happens randomly and which are not considered random? Artificial selection, natural selection, sexual s
Doss [256]

Answer:

Artificial selection is non-random whereas natural selection, and sexual selection are random selection.

Explanation:

Artificial selection is considered non-random whereas natural selection, and sexual selection are considered as random selection because in Artificial selection, humans select the mating animals in order to acquire the desired characteristics and features in the offspring while on the other hand, natural selection, and sexual selection are happen randomly without the intervention of humans, it occurs naturally so we can conclude that artificial selection is non-random whereas natural selection, and sexual selection are random selection.
