What was he benefit of a calotype over a daguerreotype?

Arts

The calotype process produced a translucent original negative image from which multiple positives could be made by simple contact printing. This gave it an important advantage over the daguerreotype process, which produced an opaque original positive that could only be duplicated by copying it with a camera. The use of paper as a negative meant that the texture and fibers of the paper were visible in prints made from it, leading to an image that was slightly grainy or fuzzy compared to daguerreotypes, which were usually sharp and clear. In the 1850s calotypes were replaced by the far more precise although cumbersome collodion process that used glass plates as negatives.

In contrast with the monumental painting style of
Zolol [24]

The style of Southern song painter Ma Yuan is Evocative style of landscapes.

This work has neither signature nor seal of the artist, but has been traditionally attributed to Ma Yuan, who served as a Painter-in-Attendance in the reigns of Emperors Guangzong and Ningzong. He was one of the foremost painters of the evocative style of landscapes in the Southern Song.

Who is Ma Yuan?

Ma Yuan was an influential Chinese landscape painter of the Song dynasty whose work, together with that of Xia Gui, formed the basis of the Ma-Xia School of painting.

Ma Yuan came from a prominent painting family. His grandfather, father, uncles, and son all served in the imperial Painting Academy. His technique, like that of many contemporaries, was at first inspired by Li Tang. Eventually Ma Yuan developed a personal style, with marked decorative elements such as the pine. A characteristic feature of many paintings is the so-called “one-corner” composition, in which the actual subjects of the painting are pushed to a corner or a side. Ma Yuan’s lyrical and romantic interpretation became the model for many later painters.

Is the smaller yahama red venova an alto too?
Shkiper50 [21]
Created using the same state-of-the-art technology that made the original Venova a hit, the Alto Venova has a larger body and uses an alto saxophone mouthpiece and reed. This gives the wind instrument a rich and mellow tone.

Learning how to shade... got any tips..much appreciated
Rus_ich [418]

Answer:

I don't exactly know if this is the correct way but it works for me.

Explanation:

I gently scribble some lines, dark or light scribbles depending on the darkness of the shade you want, then I use my finger and push down whilst spreading around the scribbles making it look like shading. If there are still scribble marks afterward, you can erase it and gently do it again until it matches the shade you'd like. I don't know if this helps but that's the technique I use
